Legendary director Alfred Hitchcock is the man who crafted the thriller classic Rear Window. This movie is slightly lesser-known in terms of Hitchcock movies when compared to other Hitchcock classics like Psycho. However, Rear Window deserves more appreciation due to its many positive qualities.

Director Andrew Davis crafted the 1993 film The Fugitive. This film focuses on a man framed for the murder of his wife. Harrison Ford plays this man and Tommy Lee Jones plays the leading police officer seeking to catch Ford’s character.

Zodiac is a 2007 film with director David Fincher at the helm. This thriller movie focuses on the real-life Zodiac Killer and the police’s attempts to catch him in addition to one reporter’s journey to find the truth. Zodiac combines themes of obsession, paranoia, and ambiguity beautifully.

The film lets the audience decide what they think about the Zodiac Killer’s true identity for themselves. This, combined with Fincher’s methodical tension, leads to an exceptional film on a fascinating subject. Zodiac is a top-tier thriller movie created by a masterful director.

3. The Silence of the Lambs

Jonathan Demme directed the 1991 masterpiece known as The Silence of the Lambs. This film expertly blends elements of a police procedural film with a psychological thriller to create a true masterpiece. Additionally, the acting in this film is outstanding.

Anthony Hopkins, in particular, delivers a chilling performance as the serial killer Hannibal Lecter. Lecter is intelligent, terrifying, and ties the movie together as its primary antagonist. Alfred Hitchcock is the director of this 1960 thriller classic. Psycho is a landmark movie in the thriller genre and pioneered quite a few elements that are still used in thriller movies today. Additionally, Psycho helped redefine suspense in cinema and is part of the reason why Hitchcock is still considered the master of suspense in film.

Also, the shower scene remains iconic decades later and was one of the most shocking scenes in film at the time. The twist ending adds to the enduring quality of this Hitchcock classic. Psycho deserves its spot at the top of this list as the best thriller movie of all time.
