Mind Your Mindset: The Science that Shows that Success Starts with Your Thinking
By Michael Hyatt and Megan Hyatt Miller
This book is inspirational for empowering others to come out of their fixed mindset and shift to a greater mindset to be more successful in life. Sometimes, we all have a vision of what success looks like to us. We think about what we can achieve and are destined to reach that goal. However, we go through obstacles that make it far from reach.
The majority of the time, we create this idea in our head of what is true and not true, but not everything is accurate, especially what we say about ourselves. Although our minds assume we are not capable of doing certain things, anything is possible if we change the way we think. It requires additional effort to think in a healthier way.
Looking at the evidence, for instance, can show if something is true or not enough to be real. By surrounding ourselves with great people, such as personal coaches, one can begin to adopt the qualities that they admire in those that counsel them. Then, our own story becomes different and no longer the same.
Through personal experiences, the authors reveal how they faced certain challenges and overcame them. From feeling stuck and not being able to get over the hill due to fear, to being able to conquer every anxiety through strength and determination. This results in the best success for all individuals.
Through cognitive science, neuroscience, and psychology, these authors show how our brains operate and what we can do to optimize it. Everything we do in a daily basis is the result of our way of thinking.
In Michael and Megan’s work, they prove that journaling holds power as it leads an individual to reframe their thoughts and think in a more positive way. How we speak to ourselves becomes reality, but that can be changed. We don’t have to live with these old stories about ourselves forever.
By having a broader imagination of our own stories, we can become unstuck, face greater outcomes, and better our own lifestyle. To persevere and get out of our old life, we must not be afraid to ask questions and be honest about ourselves.
To face a life of discovery and new beginnings, these authors excel at explaining how important it is to achieve a breakthrough by being authentic and working hard by taking a deeper dive into our subconscious minds. They promote the idea of purpose, empowerment, and constructive thinking to upgrade our lives.
For those reading this book, it may push them to come out of their comfort zones and change their limited thinking patterns. It will encourage them to look at their list of fears and figure out the why’s and how’s. Then, they will figure out that they are the answer to the solution to the problem and how to face fear and challenge their minds.
Our mindset, also called the “narrator,” is what tells our stories. If we stick to our same way of thinking, we are going to only get the same results. Past experiences can lead to this, so the more we seek to explore our lives, the better.
Personally, I feel like I am more inclined to think in a way where I’m giving myself grace and new chances. After reading this book, I have been opening to my psychiatrist and therapist more. I used to hesitate a lot more in telling them what I’ve been dealing with, but now I am more courageous to be vulnerable and share my thoughts with them.
I have a more hopeful vision of my dreams and what I want to achieve. I know that if I keep a big support system, I will be able to create my own story and it won’t be the same, it’ll be even better. I’m forever grateful for the knowledge that I gained reading and hope to read more books like this.
